2007’s “Web Site Most Likely To Change The World”

Wonderful Web Women (www.wonderfulwebwomen.com) today announced the winner of its inaugural “Web Site Most Likely To Change The World” Award.  www.Cash-Smart-Kids.com is a site for parents who want to teach their kids about money and business.

Wonderful Web Women is a support organisation for women running businesses which involve the internet. Wonderful Web Women’s web site was awarded “#1 Site Powered by CMS Infusion” only two months after it launched, and aims to provide “The Most Generous And Honest Marketing Advice For Women On The Internet”.

CEO of Wonderful Web Women, Janet Beckers said, “I was impressed with the 3 pronged approach Cash-Smart Kids has taken to make sure it can be a catalyst for change in as many areas as possible.

  1. Firstly working with children and their parents to give them the skills to be a creator of abundance rather than just consumers.
  2. Secondly with the investment in micro financing to reach the families who can not benefit from the internet program yet.
  3. Thirdly by the generous way it gives such a sizeable share of the profits to the community organisations that support the children who learn from the site.”

“We certainly hope we can change the world,” says Jenny Ford, one of the founders of Cash-Smart Kids “The education system really doesn’t teach kids how to be entrepreneurs. I am very grateful to Wonderful Web Women for the support and encouragement we have received from them.”

In designing the site, the Fords have approached the problem of scarcity thinking from a global perspective. In the developed nations, parents can use the program to teach their kids how to become financially independent from an early age. In poorer nations, the web site contributes by donating a portion of the profits to microfinance charities, which enable women to get started in small businesses. Cash-Smart Kids also donates up to 60% of its revenues to schools, clubs and other organisations associated with their members’ children, via an innovative fund-raising partnership program.

“We are very excited about the quality of the sites our members are producing,” says Beckers, “We give this award annually in December, and next year we expect to be making another difficult decision between many very deserving submissions. The internet has the potential to reshape our lives in ways we can barely even imagine right now.”
