Looking For Competition Updates? There will be news every Monday at the Raising Entrepreneurs Blog
The Global Search Begins -
Who Will Be The Two Young Entrepreneurs To Feature In the 2008 Charity Book Project?
Imagine what a difference it would make to your child's business to be featured in a widely-publicised book about kids and money.
Just a tiny little bit of publicity for my daughter Rachael's business - just a couple of mentions in blog comments, actually - was enough to attract the attention of some very successful internet marketers. She is now getting coaching, introductions, and promotional opportunities beyond our wildest dreams.

Help your young entrepreneur to make
a 2-minute video about their business,
and upload it to YouTube,
tagged
"cash smart kids". |
The two deserving winners of our YouTube video competition will have an even greater level of public exposure, and the corresponding opportunities!
The 2008 Charity Book Project will raise funds for microfinance charity, and the book itself will be about teaching kids money and business - and will include profiles of kids who are great role models.
The two winners of our YouTube video competition will be profiled in the 2008 Charity Book Project, which will have global publicity, and aims to be an Amazon bestseller - alongside such successful young entrepreneurs as Ben Casnocha, who started a business at the age of 13, and was the CEO of a Silicon Valley start-up before he left high school.
Runners up will be listed in the book, along with their website or blog URLs, and will be featured in other marketing activity around the book launch.
Whether you win or not, your video will be seen by hundreds, if not thousands of people. You couldn't buy such publicity at any price.
And it is just so easy to enter!
Just make a 2-minute video about your business, and upload it to YouTube tagged "cash smart kids".
YouTube Competition Rules
What You Need To Do
Make a video, 2 minutes or less in length (penalties will apply for over-long videos)
-
Start the video with “Hi, my name is …….. and I am a Cash-Smart Kid!”
-
Include the following information:
-
Your age
-
The city where you live
-
How old you were when you started your first business
-
All about your current business
-
Anything about your business that will impress us
- Upload it to YouTube
- Tag it with “cash smart kids” (this is how we will FIND your entry, so be SURE you do this!)
When Does The Competition Start?
NOW! Kids are already working on their videos.
We will review the videos at YouTube every week or so, and choose finalists from each group. If you get in early, you will have a better chance to be a finalist than if you wait until the last week, when everyone is rushing to get in before the deadline.
When Does The Competition End?
The competition will end when we reach agreement with a publisher and start finalising the first draft of the book. This will be some time in May.
We will give at least a week’s notice when we close the competition - to find out when it happens, add your email address to the Charity Book updates list by registering at www.raisingentrepreneurs.org, and/or check the blog there every Monday for updates.
If you have questions about the competition, post them as comments on any Monday blog post, and they will be answered ASAP.
While The Competition Is Running
If your video is good, you will see it posted on the blog for all the world to see! Whether or not you make it into the book, the publicity will be priceless.
Again, early entries will have a better chance of being featured - do it now!
Terms And Conditions
-
You must be under the age of sixteen to submit an entry. Proof of age will be required from the winners, and if a selected winner is found to be sixteen or over, they will be disqualified and the first runner-up will take their place.
-
Your parents must know you are entering and agree to allow you to be profiled in the book if you win.
-
To be considered, videos must be uploaded to YouTube and tagged “cash smart kids”, and must meet the requirements laid out in the section marked “What You Need To Do”.
-
You may make multiple videos, but if you only have one business, only one video will be considered for inclusion. If you have lots of businesses, go ahead and make a new video for each one, and they will all be considered.
-
By submitting a video to this competition, you agree to allow the promoters (Cash-Smart Kids, Peter Economy, and the chosen publishing company) to use your video in their marketing activities, whether or not you are one of the two winners.
-
Judging will take place on the nominated date as advised in the blog at RaisingEntrepreneurs.org. The judges will be Jenny Ford and Peter Economy. The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. The winners will be notified via a blog post at RaisingEntrepreneurs.org, on the Monday following the closing date of the competition.
-
This is a competition of skill, not a game of chance.
-
The two winners will be profiled in the 2008 Charity Book, working title “Raising Entrepreneurs”.
What If I Can't Make A Video?
-
If you are unable to make a video submission, you may make a written submission, accompanied by images, by creating a Hub at www.HubPages.com. To be considered, your Hub must be tagged “cash smart kids”, and must contain all the information required in a video submission.
What If I Don't Have A Business Yet?
-
Your business may be just a business idea at the moment - you can still submit an entry, but preference will be given to businesses that are actually up and running on the day the competition closes.
SPECIAL OFFER - if you join the Cash-Smart Kids Program to help your child get a business up and running for this competition, we will personally coach you to make sure you meet the deadline.
Just send us an email after you have joined to let us know!
Good luck, everyone - I am looking forward to seeing your videos!
